The list of companies that have exposed employees to asbestos is unfortunately not a short list. Truth be told, the list gets added to every year as asbestos is still not banned in the United States nor Canada. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that there are still three thousand different types of asbestos containing commercial products currently in use throughout the United States.
Because asbestos has mainly been used as an insulating material and a fire retardant material, the work environments whose employees are most susceptible to encounter asbestos include mines, shipyards, construction sites, railroads, and power plants. Workers most susceptible to encounter asbestos are boiler technicians, auto mechanics, plumbers, pipe fitters, furnace technicians, construction workers, shipyard workers, miners, railroad employees.
